Jam for Youth – Benefit Concert

The Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative (MYOI) will be holding a benefit at the City Opera House on Thursday May 29th, from 7 to 10:30 pm. Michigan Youth Opportunities InitiativeThe MYOI is designed to help youth, 14 to 23 years old, as they navigate the difficult road to independence after leaving foster care. All proceeds from this event will be used to meet the emergency needs of these young victims of abuse and neglect.

The featured performers at this benefit concert are all part of the Earthwork Music Collective. Headlining this event will be Joshua Davis (of Steppin’ In it) and the Fool Rooster Band, hailing from Lansing, who will bring their brand of honky-tonkin’ Michigan roots music to the City Opera House. They will be joined on the evening by the dynamic duo Breathe Owl Breathe, Brandon Foote & Laura Bates and newcomer to the collective, singer-songwriter Chris Dorman. This will be a wonderful evening of music with plenty of room to get down and dance.

It is with the support of members of our 10 county area that we are able to organize events like this, and we are very thankful for that support. Community Partners will provide ice cream, pie and coffee during the benefit. Please join us for this opportunity to bring some attention to this often overlooked and forgotten segment of our population. These youth deserve the same opportunities we would offer our own children.

Tickets on sale now, at the City Opera House box office: $15 (plus $3 handling fee) in advance and $20 at the door. They are also available at Oryana, Higher Grounds, GT Pie Company and you can also purchase tickets online.

One Response to Jam for Youth – Benefit Concert

  1. This sounds like a great event for a much needed benefit.
You should go to http://www.fostercarecentral.org and post the event to inform others as well as add photos and video from the performance for other members to view. Foster Care Central is the online social network dedicated to all those improving the lives of children in foster care.
    Good luck with the show!
